Let me aks the fanboys on here: At 2-5, do the Steelers sit Ben, or try to turn their season around with a QB who's obviously not 100 percent, either physically, mentally or both?

here's one from a fanboy you know and love, Matt. Yes, you continue to start Ben. If he is your franchise Qb, putting in Batch during a 2-5 stretch when this team can't even beat the friggen Raiders accomplishes nothing. I thought they would struggle without Bettis's presence in the lineup, just didn;t think they would struggle this much. They couldn't score from the 3 on first and goal. Even if they had pulled it out, they didn;t deserve to win. very, very frustrating.

This is the guy's third season. He's not right. A player playing with an injury that affecting him, even if only mentally, is at far, far greater risk of another injury. Ben shouldn't have played today, and shouldn't play next week.
But for better or worse, and it's mostly better, Cowher's a stubborn cuss, too stubborn to pull his QB for a refit until they're officially eliminated from the playoffs.
That will come soon enough.

Just like the Jacksonville game, even a mediocre performance at quarterback would have been enough. The Raiders had 98 yards of total offense and really only had one drive all day, for a field goal. The other scores were the two interception returns for touchdowns and a gift field goal after two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on Pittsburgh.
The first pick was a dangerous throw. The second was an awful decision to throw into triple coverage.
That said, unless there is a new injury, there is absolutely no reason to go to Charlie Batch right now. This team is 2-5 and the playoffs don't look like a realistic possibility at this point. The best thing for the Steelers long term is to get Roethlisberger straightened out. It's not like Batch is a realistic option to start in 2007.

The Bears still have to beat the Pats on the road to go 16-0, but the game's in late November and New England will have clinched the AFC East by then, so maybe Belichick will sit Brady and Harrison.

I couldn't care less about 16-0 (although I really do want to beat Miami to avoid the '72 Dolphins party at the old folks home in Davie). All I care about is that the Bears win their 19th game of the season.

Then the fumble that led to the Colts second touchdown opened things up for what turned into an EA Sports second half. Incredible game. Lots of people around me were kind of anticipating the ending when there was 1:50 left and the Colts had three timeouts and the way they had shredded the defense the second half. Crazy, wild, exciting game.
But at least Plummer played well.
