I realize I may have mentioned this once or 10 times before, but Brad Allen's crew is the absolute worst in the NFL.
They can't even get the ****ing spot without needing review. And that McLaurin touchdown was missed by two of them.

There are two curious facts about the Allen group, per this site:
1) They throw fewer flags per game than most.
2) They are only working their sixth game of the season. Everybody else has had seven or eight.

Interesting detail: The Novak crew called 22 penalties in week 1 and four in week 2.

I was surprised-ish to find out MNF wasn't a top 10 show in the 70s. And further surprised to find out roughly the same number of people watched MNF back in the 70s as watch Sunday Night Football these days (which IS the most viewed show on TV) . Fewer people watch MNF these days.
Obviously media fragmentation is the prime factor, and advertisers covet the NFL because it is live and you can hit every demo with one ad, but it isn't that "more people" love the NFL than ever before.

Fragmentation is one factor. The fact that football doesn't take a minute to breathe this time of year is another. It's inescapable, from Tuesday CUSA to November MACtion to the usually clunky TNF game. If my team isn't involved, I usually skip MNF just because I need a break.

Speaking of my team, fairly predictable result last night. Hung around for a half but just not enough horses to beat someone like KC. Barring a miracle 7-2 run, this season is toast. Still plenty to watch out for. Want to see if Daniels can sort of right the ship and get into a consistent flow once he's healthy. Want to see if Conerly can stop being a revolving door at right tackle. I've seen some flashes but he's also very clearly a rookie thrown into a tough spot. Find a way to scrap to 8-9 and go into the offseason with some optimism. I knew this was going to be a regression year because of the schedule. Next year's much easier -- AFC South and NFC West, plus likely a third-place schedule, which probably gets you Chicago (again, this time away), Carolina or Atlanta, and probably Cincinnati.

Don’t get me started on Dak’s “Yeah, here we go!”

First couple of times I heard it, I thought it was cool. By the 34th time, I was ready to throw a brick at my screen.

My wife loves it. She has become a huge Dak fan because “he’s so cute.” I think it started because she saw his ankle get destroyed a few years ago and felt sorry for him. But now every time she says “here we go” she does it in her impression of Dak’s gravelly version.

To be fair, the McLaurin touchdown was super close. It took a lot of looks in very slow motion before I was sure it was good.

I'd suggest his crew throws fewer flags because they miss a lot of fouls.

Pretty easy to handicap the NFC playoff race at this point. I think halfway through, we may already have six locks. The 49ers are the wild card, because they're one CMC injury away from completely imploding, which could open a spot for someone like Chicago or Dallas to steal. But from what I've watched, man, Minnesota and Atlanta look lost, Carolina isn't ready, Washington is too beat up and has too tough of a schedule, and Arizona/NYG/Cards all just stink.

I'm not sure the Cardinals are bad as much as they are plain unlucky. They've lost five in a row by a total of 13 points with several good teams included in that streak, and I think they gave up the winning score or had the ball with a chance to win all of them in the last two minutes.

I'm not sure the Cardinals are bad as much as they are plain unlucky. They've lost five in a row by a total of 13 points with several good teams included in that streak, and I think they gave up the winning score or had the ball with a chance to win all of them in the last two minutes.
They're probably in too deep a hole to dig out of, especially in that division, but they're good enough to win a couple of games down the stretch that muck things up for someone else.

I play a game "writing off" one team a week from the playoffs. My eight to this point are the Jets, Dolphins, Titans, Raiders, Browns, Saints, Cardinals and now the Giants with their injuries Sunday. I think I'm safe. Ravens and Bengals are on the bubble this week.

It is. So maybe he can hang around another year or two as a cheap and experienced backup playing for the veteran minimum. Probably going to be tough to find takers though.

I still think the Ravens are going to win the AFC North. The Steelers' defense is in shambles. The Ravens are getting healthy. 'Nuff said.

I know. That's why it's an interesting "game." Kind of a reverse "survivor" pool. Maybe websites should try it out and as long as none of the teams you've eliminated week by week make the playoffs (18 weeks of the NFL season - 14 playoff spots - 32 teams) you "win." And the nice thing is, everyone can stay "in" until late in the season.
