Whether it was dumb luck or a calculated move, Shanahan drafting Cousins has saved the Redskins in a very real sense. Good chance that without a young backup, the RG3 injury would have led Washington to depend on a series of overpaid journeymen for the last few years. The jury is still out on Cousins over the long haul, but he was given time to develop and it paid dividends this year with an NFC East title. Where do you think the Redskins would be this year if they were choosing from the Hoyer-Cassell-Weeden bag of ****ty veteran QBs this year?
