The playoff at the Women's Open was a perfect visual for young players on how damage control can help you. Kuwaki was basically dead to rights on the first playoff hole, in a horrible thick lie short of a bunker and found a way to survive and get up and down for par to extend. Henseleit was in a similar spot on the second hold but couldn't snug her approach close enough after rescuing and giving herself an up and down chance. Really good players find ways to erase mistakes, and Kuwaki did just that. Kudos.

In theory, as the PGA Tour contracts, there would be an opportunity for a competing tour to fill in the gaps. But LIV, totally artificial from start to finish, wasn't even interested in that theory, Vanity projects are seldom good business, and you participate in them at your peril.
