I don't remember this many "rivalry" games in Week one. Raiders-Chargers, Falcons-Saints, Steelers-Bengals, Packers-Vikings, Patriots-Dolphins. Tough games to bet at any point in the season, let alone Week One.

ADD: I don't know if the Eagles are better than the Cowboys - but playing a second-place sked in the NFC means you get the Vikings and Cardinals instead of the Rams and Bucs. The Eagles also get the Packers at home while the Cowboys get them on the road. Big differences.

The Bengals beat them in the regular season, too, so I'm not sure I buy your characterization of that game.

Maybe they do fall victim to the hangover, but on paper, they got better. The offensive line is better, which I grant you is a low bar, and I think Hill will help in that secondary.

I'm not sure the Steelers will be the ones to take advantage if they do falter. Pittsburgh's offensive line is a disaster, Trubisky is no more than a placeholder at quarterback, and they just aren't good enough against the run. The Ravens, on the other hand, could be very dangerous if they can stay healthy this time around.

Browns-Panthers is a rivalry game, at least this time, because of the Baker Mayfield situation. I like to think he'll torch them like the Cuyahoga River.

Definitely better on paper. But they were also very healthy last year and on a loser's schedule. Bengals in prime time multiple times is gonna be weird.

Not that I'd vote him but if we're putting McVay on a Hall of Fame level, Carroll deserves to be up there with those four -- and if you believe Harbaugh belongs there, then Carroll does as well.

KC was up 21-3 in the second game and had a chance to make it 28-10 before half. The Chiefs blew the game.

The Chiefs seemed to be in control at halftime of the first game, too. It is foolish to call it a fluke when it happened both times.

Carroll’s viewed as the jerk who chose Russell Wilson over the Legion of Boom or Marshawn Lynch. Or something.
