Huge weekend incoming, with several games with gigantic stakes.
* I don't see a path for the loser of Dallas-Detroit to make the postseason. Either Chicago is getting to 10-3 or Green Bay to 8-3-1, so if Detroit's 7-6, it means they have to win out, and they still play at the Rams and at Chicago. Dallas' only real path is stealing the NFC East from the Eagles, who still play the Commanders twice.
* Cincinnati is rejuvenated with Burrow back, but the Bengals probably have to win out to steal the AFC North, meaning the Buffalo game is a playoff game.
* Baltimore-Pittsburgh has obvious stakes.
* Biggest Bears-Packers game since????
* Jacksonville can take a big leap toward winning the AFC South by winning at home and sending Indy further into a tailspin.
* Houston-KC is basically a playoff game. The Chiefs almost certainly have to win out, but in particular, they can't lose THIS game, since they've already lost to Buffalo, Jacksonville and the Chargers. Houston may at least have a path to winning the South if it loses here.
* No implications, but take a gander on that over-under for Browns-Titans. Gross.

I know the Commanders aren't great, but how are the Vikings favored over anyone when their entire offensive output for the last two games is 306 yards and two field goals?

I think it opened the other way at Washington -1.5. Can't believe JJ McCarthy is worth three points but Brosmer was horrific last week. Could swing again if Daniels is cleared.

It was Minnesota -0.5 when I put in my bets yesterday. I swung that up to Washington -1 without blinking.

They’re playing the Football Team at home. Literally the edge is the home-field advantage.

I guess. But the road teams went 8-8 last week and home field seems less valuable than ever these days, so it still seems odd.

Probably the January 2011 NFC Championship (shudder ...)

Actually, I looked it up. Since the 2009 season, the Bears are 5-28 against the Pack. I picked 2009 because that's when a certain anti-vaxer became G.B.'s starting QB. And the most recent of the Bears' five wins (last season) came after he left.

It pains me to say that for once, Aaron F'in Rodgers was right ...

Holy ****, 33.5. That has GOT to be the lowest o/u ever, right? Or at least on record?

Printing money over or under 33.5?
Geez, it's the NFL, gotta take the over when it's that low.

Sunday noon forecast is right at freezing with maybe some flurries, but for Cleveland that's fantastic weather in December. Middle Tennessee ain't exactly Florida either, so nothing shocking about the weather up there for them.

The talking AI bot that does Titans radio now was trying to polish a turd with the rest of his booth postgame by asking if the players would be excited for a good opportunity to get a win in Cleveland.

“Well, they’ll have to deal with Myles Garrett so …”

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Vandy football is all that keeps Nashville from the sports abyss.

Tonight's game reminds me of the immortal 1970 Christmas Day playoff game in the Cotton Bowl, which ended up 5-0 Cowboys.

We didn't know it then, but that ended up to be the high point for the Joe Schmidt Lions.

55 ****in years later, I'm still pissed. Even more because the unconquerable obstacle those Lions could never get past, the Vikings, could never win a Super Bowl themselves.

If the Lions had been roadblocked behind the dynastic Cowboys or Steelers, Raiders or Dolphins, it would have been ok.

This looks like a uniform match-up from an alternate universe.

The Dallas dark blue tops are in the running for my favorite all time NFL jersey.
