Football doesn't start until after the World Series. And even then, it's only two days a week between hockey games. :D

Amen. :D

You know what? Baseball sucks. No, it doesn't just suck. It ****ing SWALLOWS, OK?

Now get off this damn thread and STFU </George Carlin if he weren't a baseball looser fan>

Just a couple of years ago, Chamique Holdsclaw misses a **** load of games for a "private" health-related condition. No one's talking. Everyone who gives two ****s about the WNBA in Washington is freaking out thinking the worst. Then we find out she was battling depression.

Seems like there's still a stigma attached to the disease.

Not seems. Is. It would be nice if that changed soon, but I wouldn't hold my breath until it does - if it ever does.

I don't know if it's a stigma, as much as it's just not understood, or taken very seriously. But are people ashamed about suffering from depression nowadays? I don't think so.

Seems like half the people I know have dealt with it more than once.

All I know is I am happy that football is back on. Football makes me happy. And feel free to make fun of me for it. It won't matter. 'Cause I am HAPPY!

Football season is glorious. No reason to fear ridicule. Rock, lieslntx.

Saints open Thurs. on road as underdogs at Cards.
This is the first game, and one bookend, while the NFC title game vs. Giants will be other bookend.
In between's a long, interesting season.

Super Bowl just may be the Saints' exciting finale.

My first instinct was to say not likely.

But then I remembered you said last fall Eli Manning would win a title some day. So I may in fact place some $$$ on the Saints winning it all.
T.Donaghy, P.Rose and A.Schlichter have each already booked thousands on this proposition.
It's a lock.

Sounds like Chris Williams' back issues were known BEFORE the draft.

Is Jerry Angelo **** Cheney?

I just heard about his surgery yesterday. The Bears are ****ed. For all the talk about QB, the main reason the team fell apart last year is because the OL sucked. Damnit, season's over already. Crap.

Well said. I know I'm not the only one here that thinks this too. The NFL has gotten more boring the past five years or so.

I mean, I'll watch a team that I have a rooting interest in, but that's it. With baseball, I can watch any game, rooting interest or not.

But that may have more to do with having been a sportswriter. It's tougher to sit back and just watch sports in your offtime (since you watch so much on the job).

I'm exactly the opposite. I'll watch any football game rather than a random baseball game, unless it has a team I'm rooting for in it.

Chicago Tribune is reporting early November for Williams. Awesome.

Charlie Batch broke a collarbone this week and will miss four to six weeks. Of course, I'm more curious to see if Polamalu can get -- and stay -- healthy for an entire season again. Because he was the best player on the field when he was on it during the Steelers' Super Bowl run.

Dolphins sign Pennington, 2 years, $11-mill

He probably starts ... but after how many weeks? Pennington's a sharp guy, but surely the offense isn't that vanilla. Is it?

Right now, it's probably going to be a lot of handing off, and throwing when only completely neccesary.
