By default, Redskins vs. Broncos is probably the most interesting matchup.

It's a remarkably bad week.

My goodness, this might be the least interesting week I have ever seen in the NFL. There isn't one game I would bother to watch.

Has the NFL jumped the shark?
Parity down, the rising tide flooded all the boats.
No hard hitting.
Constant review of plays.
3 1/2 hours for 60 clock minutes of 11 minutes of action.
24/7 NFL news containing 40-60 former players telling you, in a language resembling English, nothing.

I don't think that's it at all. The Colts-Broncos game got crazy ratings and while that's obviously not going to be the norm, it shows how interested people were in that matchup.

Obviously in most seasons, Packers-Vikings is a marquee game, it's just not this year. Even looking at the schedule, there aren't too many games that people would be interested in any year. I wonder if they did this intentionally because the World Series is going on. I doubt it...

It will be interesting to see the difference in ratings between the Sunday night game and Game 4 of the World Series.

The schedule is made out based on the performances of teams in 2012. As we have seen (Giants-Vikings just last night), this isn't always the best formula. But it's impossible to create a 17-week schedule for 32 teams in which there's at least one week where the matchups are of interest only to diehard fans of the teams involved. As for baseball, PGA Tour, etc., the NFL doesn't give a **** and rightly so. It is the country's most popular television show and therefore can do what it damn well pleases.

NFL will beat baseball fairly easily.

Packers-Vikings is not a game to complain about. It's a dud now, but as Mr. Gee noted, it's based on 2012 finish and 2013 projections, and that looked like a pretty good game at the time. Same thing on St. Louis.

That's partly a result of parity. It's too darn hard to predict what teams will be good and what teams will not. Who thought the Chiefs would be 7-0 after going 2-14 last season?

Exactly. And who would've thought the Broncos would be thinking about the WILD CARD at this point of the season?

I doubt the Broncos are thinking wild card at any point. Best team in football, hands down. They lost one game, on the road against a good team, by 6 points despite giving up three turnovers. They'll be fine. They're not the least bit afraid of the Cinderellas from Kansas City, who they will beat twice by two touchdowns.

Griffin suddenly looks like RGIII again, the Redskins hang 45 on Chicago and Denver's defense has been lit up by the last two teams they've faced with an actual quarterback. No guarantees, of course, but this one could be a fun little point-fest on both sides.

If Carolina manages to win Thursday, the Panthers are 4-3. Chance at a Wild Card berth?

Sure ... but must beat an awful Tampa team to get over .500 for the first time in years (keep losing openers and slow starts to the season have slaughtered the Panthers).

Have to figure the NFC East isn't likely to get a wild card. Only the Saints are better in the division. Figure both Seahawks and Niners get in from the West.

Sure its hard to feel sorry for someone who's earned over $100M playing football, but his comeback from that physical adversity was special.
