THOUGHTS: Back to Taylor Heinicke in Washington, it seems. I'd like to see Howell get a shot but I understand Rivera is trying to keep his job and has to go with his best chance of winning. As bad as they are, they're only a game out of the seven seed. Parity, man. ... Atlanta-Cincy could be vaguely interesting. Falcons are 6-0 ATS so far this year. ... I guess Giants-Jaguars is an OK game. ... Worst slate of prime time games in a long while.

Strangely enough, my thought when compiling the college schedule was that this weekend offered a prime opportunity to knock out a leaf peeping tour for the season. Maybe now start looking for last minute hotel deals and make a weekend of it.

When my betting pool buddies and I made that bet, I thought the Vikings were the long shot.

There are nine teams with winning records, 12 teams with losing records and 11 teams at 3-3. Strikes me as a fairly normal distribution after six games. I mean, the following sentence would be just as accurate. After six games, over 60 percent of NFL teams are at .500 or better.

To take the example I know best, if the Titans are destined to be a 10-win team, then the whole league is watered down like speakeasy liquor. They have nothing but injured bodies and manufacturers seconds on the offensive line and the only above-average receiver was traded in the offseason. Once they get to the playoffs and down to the talented teams who are no longer coasting, they’ll be at the same dead end as always.
