Would love to see Detroit beat the Chefs this week, or at least give them a serious game.

But I can't help thinking that with all the Lions hype, this season is going to be a disaster for them.

Lions gonna Lions but if they are going to stand a chance this week, playing KC without their best defender is as good as any.

Speaking of knees...nothing much worthwhile came from UVA getting demolished by Tennessee, but they had a promising rotation DL tear both his patellas when he slipped on the sideline turf. I post it on this thread because they played at the Titans' stadium. Players were falling awkwardly the whole game.

I forget if it was radio or TV, but they said something about the new turf no longer having the black rubber pellets that had become commonplace the last several years. Instead it has coconut fibers.

No idea how this will hold up, but the grass field in Nashville was notoriously bad, especially late in the season.

I have no idea how the Bengals and Browns will play out, other than Cleveland will do something awesomely stupid at the most inopportune time. Because.

Its weird that with all the optimism for so many teams, I really have a hard time trusting most of them to get me through a Survival pool to week 2. Do I want to trust THAT Qb?, THAT coach? I couldn't imagine doing one with some real money on the table.

My favorite booger picker — and eater! — retired today after 14 years in the NFL. Chase Daniel made nearly $42 million to hold a clipboard and make five starts in his career. Great work if you can get it.

Can any of you gamblers tell me the last time the Bears were favored -- home or away -- against the Packers? Had to be years ago when Rodgers was injured, maybe.

BTW, nice thread title, Cosmo!

My local high school had its field turfed in 2004 and it had those black rubber pellets. It was hotter than hell in the early weeks because that black rubber absorbed all the heat. They redid the field in 2014 and instead used cork as the filling. Made a huge difference just in the on-field temperature. And the black rubber smelled like ass.

There was one field in my neck of the woods that must have ordered extra pellets, because every time I covered a game there I got a ton of them in my shoes. After a game it was like dumping sand out of your shoes after walking on the beach.
Those tiny little bastards hurt, too. Like little pebbles in there.

The only thing is, the Browns only ever play with confidence against the Bengals. It’s as if both teams, even if good, are saying, “Deep down, we know you’re still the Browns/Bengals.”

Bears -3.5 in the 2019 season opener in Chicago. Packers were coming off a 6-9-1 season; Bears were 12-4. It was LaFleur’s first game as coach.

Packers won 10-3.

Jets punter Thomas Morstead putting in some work for his kids.
