Speaking of teams in disaster mode, it looks like the Saints are setting the self-destruct charges. They cut Joe Morgan (a little-used receiver who nonetheless had stayed on the roster through a number of injuries and other issues), benched starting safety Kenny Vaccaro (a generally solid starter and former first round pick who has struggled at times) and Sean Payton called 10 other players into his office for "evaluation."

And there are 15. I'm sure he had to narrow it from that actually, because each one is very strong. I didn't think it was possible to be in worse shape than they were with the Shanahii, but I think they've done it.

It's funny. My kids have a Christmas pageant that will be going opposite the game. When I first saw the schedule conflict, I thought, "Oh my God that sucks." Obviously, I wasn't going to skip the pageant to watch the game, but I was a little bummed about it. Now, I'm ecstatic that I won't have to watch.

What will be interesting is if the Niners come out fired up at all. I could see it being either way. I could see them coming in and making it interesting because the teams hate each other so much and I could also see them just quit like they did last Sunday.

I don't think it's going to be an eye-popping score. More like a humdrum 27-10 that looks like there's a running clock in the second half.

I don't think the 49ers care enough to make it interesting, and even if they did, they don't have a single receiver other than maybe Stevie Johnson who can get open.
