Let's review, I said Fields is straddling the fine line between mediocre and bust (which MacNeil later amended to "total bust"). Which I believe he is. He may be a bust, he may be mediocre. That's what straddling means. MacNeil chose to ignore half of it, and change the other half. Fields has a way to go to reach mediocre. He has been quite nearly the worst starting quarterback in the NFL through half the season and has shown thus far to be a very below-average passer (ranked five spots behind the immortal Davis Mills). And before you throw in his prowess as a runner, Fields had his four best rushing games of the season the last four weeks and the Bears went 1-3. So a lot of good that did.

Yet because of my assessment, the Great MacNeil said I had no right to comment on football.

So let's look at MacNeil's clearly superior viewpoint. MacNeil said Fields is the best QB in the (NFC North) division and he's the best QB in his draft class (which I basically dismissed in either case as faint praise). In the latest rankings, Fields is 26th in the NFL. The others in his division are 8th (Rodgers), 11th (Goff) and 13th (Cousins). How this makes Fields better than any of them, let alone all of them, I'm not quite sure. As for his draft class, Fields is no better than second-best, if that up to this point. So, yeah ...

I hope Jeff Saturday finds a Gal Friday on help him on Sundays so he doesn't have to hear all the Monday morning quarterbacking, especially from 'Til Tuesday.

And yet, I'm really not impressed with the lawsuit. Hell, I know newsrooms that had toxic work environments - you can't just go around suing companies for being an awful place to work. Now, if they lied to taxpayers, or cheated them out of revenue they were owed for parking and such. Absolutely.
