Six pieces of suspected space debris found washed up on north Queensland beaches could be “space balls” that are often left over from rocket launches, according to one expert.

The Australian Space Agency confirmed on Sunday it was working to determine the nature and origin of the mysterious objects, which police said were suspected of containing hazardous chemicals.

Reports showed the objects, washed up on beaches in the Forrest Beach area of Townsville, appeared to be large spheres.

The Queensland Fire Department said on Sunday a total of six objects had been found washed up on beaches. Five had been “secured into drums” and a sixth was being “rendered safe” on Sunday, a spokesperson said.​

They're combing the sands looking for them.

Always fascinated how they build, and re-build, skyscrapers in Manhattan where there doesn't seem to be a lot of extra space for staging, cranes or even dumpsters. They'll have to chop the top off this building right? And even then?

I've never worn hats. I have had a cap on my head since I could walk.
I find it fascinating how pretty much every cowboy hat, fedora, pork pie, whatever starts out as the same thing, and it all comes down to how it's cut and shaped.
I like watching hat shaping videos how they take them from a blank to various styles. It really impresses me, even though I'll never wear one.

Had a moment today. Self-checkout line at the grocery store. "Place bags in bagging area" (I did). Checker comes over and says I shouldn't have things in the bag. I take the items out and begin scanning, scanning......, it beeped on a Diet Coke twice, tried to edit it, Light starts blinging "Please wait for assistance." Waiting, waiting..ok 10 more seconds. Still nothing. The overly attentive checker doesn't seem to be so attentive anymore. 10 more seconds. Still nothing. I walked out - left everything there.
Yeah, I'll shop at that store again. but they'll never get the money they could have made today back. When it takes longer to self-checkout than to wait in line, you have a problem.

Sometimes I would get a bottle of booze just so I wouldn't feel shame for not using the self-checkout. You know, something that won't go to waste.

I was driving in my neighborhood today and a deer and two fawns popped out from a glade and walked across the street in front of me. Of course I stopped to watch; deer (and turkeys) in the neighborhood are a PITA but the fawns were really cute, about the size of my dog.

ANYHOW, a woman was walking down the sidewalk, totally absorbed in her phone. The deer crossed the sidewalk no more than 10 feet in front of her, disappeared into a front lawn, and she never even looked up.

I mean, WTF lady? You missed an absolutely beautiful sight because you couldn't take your eyes off your ****ing phone.

**** like that is why I still have a flip phone. Some people are just addicted to their phones, at the expense of the world around them.
