I thought the gunmetal look was sweet. If the NFL ever expands again, gunmetal with some bright blue or red, even green would really pop.

And I realize Justin Fields may never be an "elite" starter, a QB1, but he'd be a good back-up for a decent team that doesn't want to write-off the season when their starter goes down. He's like a young Jacoby Brissett. He's also "the line" teams should use when evaluating if they have a franchise QB. If your passer rating is below Fields, you don't. And yet, 11 teams are starting QBs with a lower rating.

One of my best buddies is a Patriots fan and he was texting me tonight that he looks pretty good. When the Jets got him, I thought he'd be pretty good b/c he never really got a chance to succeed in Chicago or Pittsburgh. Which very well may be true, but he is not pretty good. He can barely complete a forward pass. He turned Garrett Wilson, a former college teammate, into a barely adequate receiver. This Adonis Mitchell guy was wide open at least twice tonight and Fields completely missed him. I feel for Fields, b/c getting chances w/the Bears, Steelers & Jets meant he never really had much of a chance. But he's not even an adequate stopgap QB.

He got plenty of chances. His one decent year in Chicago, he had good receivers, but that just meant guys like D.J. Moore making him look better than he really is.

The Steelers seem to have this idiotic idea that they don't need a competent No. 2 wide receiver, which has crippled their offense for two seasons now, but you could tell they had no faith in him, anyway. They ran a very conservative offense designed to keep him from turning it over too much until they could get him out of the lineup. The only thing I don't understand is why they tried to keep him for this season. He sucks.
