Baseball Prospectus on Jeter:

.290/.358/.398, 10 HR, 60 RBI, 16 SB, 73 R, 23 2B

Rotoworld on Jeter:

.282/.353/.373, 8 HR, 57 RBI, 14 SB, 91 R, 24 2B

Interesting because BP is usually the one out of the two that is more conservative in his projections.

BP is closer to what I think he'll do than Roto, though I think if he's getting on base at about a .360 clip he'll score more runs than that. Probably between 85-100.

From the "completely expected news" dept., Grady Sizemore will not be ready for Opening Day (due to a back injury):

For a guy often thought to be a backwoods goober, I'm pretty damned impressed by how articulate he is about the condition he had.

God, I ****ing love grammar.

LOL thanks for pointing that out!

****, you should stop being so hard on yourself. Nobody here thinks you're a backwoods goober.

Only a matter of time before anonymous source stories start trickling about how much Red Sox players hate Bobby Valentine. He's banned beer in the clubhouse:

The Mets will wear this patch for Gary Carter.

Be careful to any former Tigers from last season now on other teams...so far Sizemore and Zumaya both hurt in training camps.

You Nats guys ... What's Anthony Rendon's big-league position? (Obviously not 3B, and I don't see him as a 2B unless they just want to punt defense in a Dan Uggla sort of way).

Nats to lock up Zimmerman long term.

Here's the main question in historical context - were the Phillies wrong not to lock up Scott Rolen back when he was 27? If you think the Phillies made a mistake not keeping Rolen - then the contract extension is easily justified. If you think Rolen's 126 games and 19 HR average during those age 27-35 seasons weren't worth top money even though he went to 6 All-Star games and won 5 Gold Gloves - then you fall into the Jon Heyman, Tom Verducci camp thinking the Nationals just overpaid.

Least shocking news EVER. Chris Perez is also on the shelf for 4-6 weeks, strained oblique. I realize I'm the only person on the board who cares about this.....

They're really keeping options open with him, Steak. Playing him at three infield positions in camp, and I even think he's getting a little OF work.

I expect him to open here in Harrisburg, and I would think he'll play third every day.

I think it was Jayson Stark who tweeted on Friday that this is the last weekend without baseball until November. I have to admit, it got me fired up.
