the thing about Rendon is you didn’t see this coming. Six of his first eight seasons are normal and his rookie season he was caked up after three weeks so his number is short.

Minasian had to add that the injury cropped up during Rendon's offseason workouts. Yeah, sure. When? If that's a coverup -- which is possible -- you wonder why Rendon couldn't have had hip surgery when he got hurt last season. Why wait until the week spring training starts. Total hip replacements can be done in 2 months (I know, I've had it). If he had it in August-September-October, he could have easily been back by February-March.

Reminds me of the great Julian Tavarez quote from when he signed with the Nats on the eve of the season in 2009:

And to me, this is Jennifer Lopez right here. It's four in the morning. Too much to drink. All the girls look hot. So the Nationals are Jennifer Lopez to me."

I cannot find it anywhere online, but in 1995 he gave the worst performance by an athlete in a commercial I’ve ever seen, in which he takes a bite out of a BW3 chicken wing and and says straight to camera, “It’s Joolian, not Hoolian.”

It was simultaneously racist, terribly acted, awkward and still incredible.

Omar Vizquel standing on a 40-foot-tall stack of lumber for Willoughby Lumber is a close second for me.

Good for Bregman, although I'm not sure I understand his insistence on a long-term deal only to take a big paycheck for three years, only to have to move to second base. Good for Boras, who can put a positive spin on an off-season where no one was willing to bend to his demands, again. Good for the Red Sox, who needed a right-handed bat but will pay $40M a year for a guy on the other side of 30 with declining offensive numbers who probably won't move the needle enough to keep them out of a wild card series, if they even make that.

The Cubs and Tigers offered better stability. Bregman took the cash. His choice but I think the Red Sox will regret it more than the GMs in Chicago and Detroit.

He hasn't played anything but third base since 2019. I think he came up as a shortstop. He has played nine games at second base in the majors, none since 2018.

I can see why they are doing it. They could move Devers from third base, but where would they play him? Triston Casas needs to play at first base.

This would mean they stick with Devers at third base. They have Casas at first. Yoshida is primarily a DH. I imagine that won't be a great defensive infield with Bregman at second.

That's idiotic. I know $300M for a DH looks bad but 3B is too valuable to have just a guy there especially when you've got a Gold Glover available. I thought the Bosox were the anti-Yankees, no? This is A-Rod/Jeter all over again (kinda).
