Battle of the backups ... of course, before Mr. Minshew lit up stull for Jax and the Palouse before then ... well ... let's just say his play not far from Charlotte would not have gotten him picked by anyone.

That Jaguars defense probably won't let Kyle Allen do much - with or without Jalen Ramsey - and I question if the line is going to help Christian McCaffery out that much (of course, maybe people won't go high on Allen anymore, either). And speaking of defense ... Kawann Short going on IR is a nasty blow for the Panthers.

The Donkeys are terrible but also some terrible luck. Two lost games on field goals at the gun and mistakes put the defense in huge holes at Lambeau. Division game and they won in Carson last year. Never have started 0-5 in 60 years. Not that it means crap. Chubb out. Everything against them, which leads me to think it will be closer than the Sharps expect. I'll take the 6.5

Get used to it. The league is weak and loaded with bad teams. We'll get some unexpectedly entertaining games, but many more meaningless and sloppy ones.

The 3 prime time games are solid, though.

There are is not a lot of parity in the NFL this year. This a whole lot of Have Nots and about 4-6 Haves (teams that can contend for a Super Bowl).
