Raiders fanboi Twitter has been lobbying for it. But how do you let go someone who took over the ****show Gruden left and turn it into a playoff team?

Outside of Andrew Luck, Harbaugh tinkers incessantly with the QB position everywhere he goes.

Raiders better off with a special teams HC who stays out of everyone's way, particularly Carr's. That's Carr's team. Minute Harbaugh arrives, it's all about Jim.

Is this a "he's a bad locker room guy" kind of take, or "the 33/7 TD/INT ratio and +100 QB rating each of the last three years is a mirage" kind of take.

He has lost the team. That is reason to fire the guy. The team regressed. That is another reason to fire the guy. There is a lack of accountability in his public comments of late. Then he ran a quarterback sneak on third-and-nine. How do you justify all of that?

I get what you are saying, but you would think Mara is smarter than that.

Not just third down, but second down, too! Guy is a quitter. They should put him in Gettleman’s box of personal effects and ship him the hell out of New Jersey.

When he finally gets that job the salary cap will be a wreck, the good players will be on their way down and out. Reid’s not leaving until he squeezes everything he can out of that job. What his family has been through and he still coaches shows that’s all he really cares about. He’s not leaving until they rip that challengeflag from his stubby cold hand

Mahomes is 26 and has something like 10 years on his contract. As long as Mahomes is in KC that is a good head coaching job. Bieniemy can wait.

The only way the Flores firing makes sense to me if he was the loser of a very big and long power struggle over whether to trade for Watson or bang along with Tua. Mind you, I have no idea which side Flores was on in the dispute, just that he must've lost.

Assistants hired from New England for head coaching jobs seem to have the same problem when get head coaching jobs. Flores appeared to have problems playing in the sandbox with others as did Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniels.

New England has a unique approach to hiring their football personnel. Normally NFL teams hire coaches with lots of experience, nepotism aside. But New England trains their own. Flores and McDaniels had worked one year as a graduate assistant before going to work in New England. Patricia had done two GA's and worked two years as an assistant at Amherst.

I think Belichick is the tyrant/genius of New England and can get away with being a dictator inside the building due to his intelligence and a smart owner who can manage him. I think Flores, Patricia and McDaniels learned to model the behavior of Belichick, but were not smart enough to adapt to other environments when they left.

Rich Biasacca is the first interim coach to guide a team to the playoffs. The first since Don Coryell in '78 to post a winning record after being named interim coach. I still don't see why some teams didn't make moves earlier this year - particularly this year with the extra playoff spot and the extra game. Coryell took over after Tommy Prothro resigned following the "holy roller" game.

Actually, I think Prothro quit a couple weeks later, after they were beaten pretty soundly by the visiting Packers (who were not very good back then).

So the Texans' coach, who strikes me as a Fortune 500 CEO but not an NFL head coach, hasn't been whacked yet. I think the only guy to "report" his demise is Jay Glazer, and he wrote that he expects the execution.

Quarterbacks are essentially part of management (one reason why the NFLPA is so hamstrung). A franchise that has just broomed its GM and head coach is naturally thinking about a new QB, too. Trouble is, Cousins is both hard to replace as one of the top 12 or so NFL QBs and his contract makes him impossible to move. But missing the team's most important game due to refusal to be vaccinated means Cousins put his personal goals above those of the franchise. For a player, that's a firing offense. For a de facto manager, it's much worse.

Washington was seemingly so averse to the guy the franchise was willing to stake itself to Haskins instead.
