Look, Tech has had some dumb, inexcusable losses since I started following them in 1993, my freshman year in Blacksburg. Miami of Ohio and Temple come to mind. But last night was the worst I've ever seen in my 30-plus years of watching the Hokies. ODU simply shoved it up Tech's ass for 2 1/2 hours. In no world, if you're a purported "P4" team, can you let a ****ing Sun Belt team come into your house and beat the ****ing **** out of you like that.

Lost every non-con game against a P4, including Rutgers and Purdue at home.

He somehow left the program in 100 percent worse shape than Fuente did. That's almost impressive. No idea where it goes from here, but the rot is deep.

Chip Kelly knew what he was doing. I guess its a positive for the program that they care enough to even fire the coach? It is a Big 10 job and all, but I don't think they'll get the coach they need and want as long as Jarmond is there. A "win" would be bringing Jonathan Smith back to his LA roots from Michigan State, its going to come down to how harsh the Michigan winters are and how big the UCLA NIL budget is. I don't think they could do better than that with Jarmond as the AD, it's not like he came from a fb powerhouse at BC and has a connection to a "hot coach."

Board of Visitors members J. Pearson and Ryan McCarthy have been charged by the rector, John Rocovich, to work with university leadership and AD Whit Babcock to develop a financial, organizational and leadership plan that will rapidly position the Virginia Tech football program to be competitive with the best in the ACC. That plan will be presented to the Board of Visitors later this month. The new framework for college sports will be fully established for next season, so this is the time to make a major move.

I don’t think they have gotten any better in the B1G. Not enough to lure Smith anyway. He’s in the second of a 7-year deal making $7.25M annually

The problem with the UCLA football gig is you aren't the "big dog" on campus, you are just another sport and are taking the Big10 beatings so the volleyball teams and gymnastics squads can remain in the top tier of their sports.

That's really a shame. Blacksburg was one of my favorite road trips when our sports gang made its annual two-day run to a Thursday night game. Great downtown late-night vibe, great stadium.

UCLA is not making that hire to look enlightened. They are doing it because that's the only real choice they have.

UCLA may be the worst job in the business. The athletic department has no money. Your assistants can't afford to live within driving distance of campus. The only people who will take the job are (a) proven losers and (b) people who haven't had the chance to prove they're losers yet. If you're UCLA, you have to go with (b).

UCLA is worse than Purdue and probably Northwestern. It's an absolute dumpster fire and they aren't recovering in the next 25 years. They are traitors for going into bed with the Trojans to break up the Pac-12.
