The only place I've seen this spouted is from a Twitter parody account, which has then been amplified by Reddit and message board folks. Maybe there is some legitimate smoke I'm not aware of, but also, isn't the Michigan athletic department kind of a tire fire anyway? A successful one, since they have national championships in football and basketball the past 5 years, but it doesn't seem like a stable place that anyone plans on retiring at.

The only real smoke I see is Dusty May basically setting up his assistant to get the UM HC job due to timing. Reminds me of Bill Clark's retirement.

My brother made a good point, I thought, in that UM should call Nate Oats and gauge his interest since (1) he has some Detroit-Midwest roots and (2) recruiting never ends now with NIL, transfers and so forth.

Michigan already opened up once and nothing there. I think Oats is pretty tight with Izzo. so I’m more worried about the day Sparty comes open. That or an NBA job.
