He's better than I thought he would be ... But I'm still not convinced. Three years in let's see where he stands - not two years and eight games. And let's see where's he at in five years.
I think he's a Kordell Stewart.
Jesus Christ, do you still believe he wouldn't fetch a first rounder?

Apart from being black what in gods name did Stewart do as well as Newton?

Was this written by anyone here? I think this guy would like this one back.

In other words, Cam Newton was a worse draft pick than Ryan Leaf...

...um, wait a minute.

In other words, Cam Newton was a worse draft pick than JeMarcus Russell...

...no, that doesn't work either.

In other words, the Bleacher Report article is the worst article ever.

OK, that works better.

Meanwhile, Fran Tarkenton says the best QB of all-time is ... Fran Tarkenton:

But I do see a comparison with Kaep; fastest player on the field, cannon for an arm... But Kaep seems a lot more solid between the ears and is more accurate throwing the ball.

I'd think 11 weeks would be sufficient time to overcome the lack of a preseason.

I wouldn't say it's the lack of a preseason as much as the injury itself. Leaving freak of nature Peterson aside, that's a two-year injury when you're talking about full recovery. He cut the rehab time short as it was.
Absolutely. Anyone who wants to grade him on this season is not being completely fair. Right now he's only 10 months out from the injury. If the Redskins were smart, they'd shut him down for the season now that they're at 3-7. I don't care what happened last year, it's not going to happen again. Put him in the weight room and have him do more knee-hab.

I dunno. That division might be winnable at 8-8.

Unless the division is winnable at 4-12, the Redskins have no chance.

Just as well. People in Washington can go back to not giving a **** about the Redskins the way it was before RG3 arrived.

Amirite Devil?

It already has.

Not that it means much anymore with the NFL being a passing league, but Alfred Morris is well on his way to becoming a top 3 NFL running back. He leads the league (among full-time starters) with 5.1 yards per carry. Leads the league with 9 runs of 20+ yards. Leads the league with 91.8 yards per game. Third in the league with 918 yards. Only five TDs, but he's had six vultured from him by Helu and Young, who each had three in a game.

Dude's a beast and is one of the few things I enjoy about watching the Redskins lately.

Not being snarky here, but if you are the Skins what do you draft in the first round? Do you draft a top-flight receiver to go with Garcon, the young TE and Morris or do you dump picks into the defense?

I would add weapons to the offense.

Thomas Howard, the ex-Raider who died (and killed another driver) by going 110 mph on the freeway Sunday night, was driving "beyond recklessly" in ways other than just the speed, according to investigators. Sounds like they're looking into whether he was trying to kill himself.

How long until they have a first-round pick? 2015 or 2016?

In comparing playing styles, yes. I'm looking in terms of career arc Like Stewart, I think in five years, Newton is on the bench or out of the league.
Stewart was as running QB who made pass plays.. Does pretty well for three or four season then unravels, crashes and burns when defense adjust to the run and realize he sucks as a passer a'la Stewart in the AFC Championship game against Denver. The INT in the end zone was the beginning of the end.
Newton can run, but he throws - and completes - a lot of short stuff. He also makes a fair amount mistakes and bad decisions.

Stewart was listed at 6-1, 218 in his playing days.

Newton is 6-5, 245. He's the prototype in every way, PLUS he can run.

I haven't bothered to look up to see whether the numbers disprove the old "sophomore slump" theory, but isn't it just possible Kaepernick, Wilson and RGIII are just going through an expected regression? As others have noted in other threads, defensive coordinators have plenty of game film of these guys to study and have adjusted to take away what worked so well last season.

Now, it's up to the quarterbacks and their coaching staffs to adjust and figure out what works moving forward. Does everyone think these guys don't have the tools to make those adjustments?

I haven't seen enough of Kaepernick or Wilson to really judge, but I think RGIII has all the tools to be a successful NFL quarterback.
What more would you like to see from Wilson?

As noted, I haven't watched much of Wilson. Haven't even looked at his numbers this season. Just seemed like I've seen him lumped in with the others in other discussions of whether this group of young QBs is unable to hack it in the NFL. If not, just ignore the mention of his name in my post.

Yeah, Wilson's completion rate is 64 percent. That surprised me a little; guess he's had some better games than the ones I've watched him in. He's just steady; only 6 INTs. He really hasn't had to pull games out of the fire because the team is in front most of the time. So we'll see how he does when that situation arises. No knocking him, though.
