Meh. Too hard to see. If you're not looking for it its easy to miss because she's out of focus and it zooms by too fast. Even with it slowed down it's still grainy. The stills do her a lot more justice.

Ovi threw out the 1st pitch at Nats Park. He and a bunch of players stayed the entire game, drinking beers and watching baseball. In 40years of living in the DMV I’ve never seen anything like this celebration. And you can thank Abe Polin. He built the arena in an area of DC that was nothing. He started the revitalization of DC. Nats Park has also brought a ton of rebuilding to that part of SE and SW too.

The team gets the trophy for 100 days. Then it gets engraved with their names during training camp, so that it is ready for the season opener.

Great read from Isabelle Kurshudyan and Barry Svrluga in the Post, detailing the entire season. I remember so many of those down moments ... the awful trip to Nashville and Colorado, the hardly-show-up efforts in Columbus and Chicago. They seemed to find a way to dig and turn it around each time.

The 1994 Rangers did something to the Cup—nobody will speak of it—that led to changes in the celebration curfews. (My money is on Mark Messier and something omnisexual.) I suspect Ovie might be setting some new standards, however. At this point, he's definitely ****ed the Cup.

Was it the 1995 Devils who were the first to do the spend a day with the Cup thing for everyone in the organization?

I remember talking to Troy Brouwer about it years ago, when he was still in Washington and the only Capitals players at the time with a Cup. The way he talked about it, it is NOT some inanimate object. His dad had a stroke before the playoffs started and was still in the hospital after the Blackhawks won. So when the Cup showed up at Brouwer's house, the first stop was the hospital.

Eric Fehr talked a bit about spending a day with the Calder Cup. "Not quite the same thing," he said, laughing.

Heading to the parade, I hope Ovi and his gang are still celebrating like sumbitches.
