Sports Journalists Forum – Media, Newsroom & Reporting Talk

Help Support Sports Journalists Forum:

The Valkyries' GM is doing herself no favors by not discussing the moves with the media, much as she did on draft day.

(Speaking of the Valks, haven't seen a Marisa Ingemi byline in the Sporting Green in ages. [/threadjack])

WTF? This is routine reporting in the NBA or college, but the WNBA?

The crazy thing is if you read the tweet, and then you read Stephanie White’s press conference comments, I don’t understand what the reporting got wrong. It sounds very much like they were “managing” her playing load … as he reported! Something about that particular word triggered the team.

WNBA players and front office seem like some of the world’s most thin-skinned people.

We've talked many times how some who cover the game feel they have to advocate for it. With the growth in the game over the past few years, fueled by the likes of Clark, that is changing and, to some, perhaps not in a good way.

Clark is a free agent after next season and the Fever will do whatever it has to do to keep her from having wandering eyes -- load management, take away the pesky reporters, you name it.

Across the street from the Fieldhouse, a county jail was torn down and the $78 million "Indiana Fever Sports Performance Center" is under construction. If Clark leaves, might as well put the jail back up.

If it was on Georgia's campus it could be both!

Washington’s coach went bananas about a call and continued to go after the referees before being escorted off the court by three Atlanta police officers.

APD did this with the Alabama State coach in March or when it was earlier this year.

Is this just an Atlanta thing to have this kind of police presence and interaction at games? Or is this typical for all venues?

I know teams and venues have local PD support on site but it’s almost like Atlanta has an Easy button to get APD involved.

Why did the WNBA use Diana Ross as the model for it's logo?

Nike brass has made some incredibly dumb decisions in the last 10-15 years with athletes, signings, etc.

Steph Curry launched a line of shoes designed for girls years ago.

Talk about an own goal

among those not on this poster is the league’s all-time leading scorer and four of the top 10 who are probably seven of the most decorated players in women’s hoops history

That’s a really weird poster. Yeah, no Taurasi, but they got Indiana’s very average sixth man on there.
