2013 NFL Coaching Carousel thread

I figured there would be a lot of movement after this season, now, not so much...

Possibilities

1. Greg Schiano in Tampa. - But if they were going to get rid of him, wouldn't they have done it by now?
2. Leslie Frazier in Minnesota - Who knows?
3. Gary Kubiak in Houston - As politically incorrect as this is to say, his stroke may have saved his job.
4. Dennis Allen in Oakland - Because it is Oakland, but they definitely look like an improved team.
5. Joe Philbin in Miami - I know the owner seemed to indicate that he's safe, but if Ireland gets canned as expected, the new guy might want to bring in his own guy.
6. Gus Bradley in Jax - I doubt they can him after one season. Could be wrong.
7. Rex Ryan in NY - I think he's safe unless there is a colossally bad finish.
8. Mike Munchak in Tennessee - Admittedly, I have no idea if he's in trouble or not or if he should be.

There's usually one firing each year that is pretty surprising. I don't see that happening this year unless Coughlin or Shanahan get canned.

I could see Shanahan quitting. I could see Coughlin retiring. I don't see them getting fired.

Odds are excellent that one of the teams mentioned by Mizzou or some currently mediocre team undergoes a complete collapse in the last six games and the coach gets canned, we just don't know which one. I except the Jags, you can't collapse while lying prone and unconscious on the basement floor.

I could see him doing what he did in Denver. The owner asks him to make a change, he refuses, gets fired. Not the same as quitting. I agree he's not walking away from that contract.

I forget which coach he was told he would have to fire in Denver, maybe it was the DC. When a coach refuses like that, he's basically daring the owner to fire him. I don't think he would do that in Washington, at least not after this season.

Shanahan wants to be around next year. It's RG3's third year, which is typically do-or-die time. And he gets a full salary cap to bring in some players on defense. He knows the Redskins could be really good next year and he wants to be around for it. I can't imagine he'd risk that just so he could keep some dumb special teams coach or Haslett. But again, if so? Cya, Shanny.

Yup, Bob Slowik. And Bowlen felt he had lost control of the organization to the Mastermind, so there were a lot of egos involved, naturally.

The end of that season was an absolute abortion. Had to win one of their last three games and didn't, including a gag at home to Buffalo then got bulldozed 52-21 at San Diego. Gone 36 hours later.

Yeah, the thought of him as a possible head coach is mind-blowing, but it wouldn't be the first time an owner hired an idiot to be head coach. I know his name came up for a couple openings last season, but I don't know if he ever interviewed anywhere.

Yeah, losing your job for Bob Slowik is insane. The only thing worse would be losing your job because the GM won't let you hire your brother to be DC (Schottenheimer).
