If anyone knew what it was like being the smartest guy in the room, it was Robin Williams.

I think Letterman tapes at 5 EST, and that's right around when the news came out........I didn't know if David said anything or not........

JayFarrar, I hadn't heard about money troubles. I know that there's no amount of money that can't be burned through, but for some reason that really surprises me.

Loved The World According to Garp.

He also did a recent turn on Law & Order: SVU, where he was superbly creepy as the villain. When it was over, I thought to myself: "I wonder if that was the real him." Writing for the student newspaper, I interview a few comedians. Per capita, they were the most depressed people I'd come across. Their failures were so public, it was very hard.

Just brutal.RIP.

CNN had Dr. Drew on last night and, for the radio nerds, Jim Bohannon interviewed a mental health expert about this on his show last night.

I thought this Cracked article did a good job illustrating how the funniest people are often the most depressed. The comparison to Chris Farley is pretty telling.

Marc Maron reposted his Williams "WTF" episode from four years ago where Williams talked pretty openly about depression and suicide. Pretty crazy stuff. He implied that he felt suicidal when he had his heart bypass several years ago, but knew he would never do it because he doesn't have the balls.

Hearing those words from his voice just gave me a chill up my spine. It's worth a listen.

Fox News had a doctor on around 9:30. He spoke of suicide prevention and depression.
