RIP Ron Hunt

Pretty good second baseman who bounced around the NL in the '60s and early '70s. Led the league seven straight seasons for getting hit by pitch, including 1971, when he was hit 50 times.

I didn't know this: he was runner-up to Pete Rose for rookie of the year in 1963.

Not an original Met, but close. Hit 10 homers as a rookie, their last year at the Polo Grounds, then never hit more than six in a season thereafter.

Mauch loved him with the Expos because he'd sacrifice his body to reach base.

In lieu of flowers, mourners are encouraged to throw baseballs at the casket during his celebration of life. RIP to a prototypical second baseman of his era.
