Just two months after being declared cancer-free, too. Damn.
Kiwi screen legend Sir Sam Neill dies, aged 78

News of the Jurassic Park star's death was confirmed today on social media.
"It is with immense sadness that the whānau of Sam Neill share the news of his passing on Monday 13th July, in Sydney Australia,” the post read.
"Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterised his whole life.
"The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer free. They would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at St Vincent’s Private Hospital for their incredible care.
“More details will be shared later, but for now, on behalf of the family, we ask that you respect their privacy as they navigate this immeasurable loss."

I'll delete my thread as soon as I figure out how, seeing as you put in more work.

One of those rare actors who could effortlessly slide between leading man and character roles. Dead Calm was so good.

And yeah, worthy of two threads.

He even had a prominent role in one of my favorite Simpsons episodes (Homer the Vigilante) as the cat burglar, Molloy.

Kudos to Neill for catching what its like to see passion and a life's mission reach the next level. THis can occur through the lens of a camera or a microscope or a telescope. This scene is about those moments.

I always liked when Laura Dern's character is oblivious to what's going on, and he has to grab her head and turn it to show her.
