THOUGHTS: So there's a world where Carolina beats Tampa and New Orleans upsets Philly on the road and all three go into Week 18 at 7-9. Oof. I think Tampa locks up the South with a win. Carolina will still need to beat the Saints next week on the road to win the division, even if they win this week since they're a still a game behind Tampa and Tampa could get to 8-9 with a split of the last two and finish clear of the other two. ... Rivera can't go back to Heinicke, can he? His job may be on the line these last two games. ... If Miami beats New England, Pittsburgh is eliminated before the Sunday night game even begins, right? ... That KC line should be 17 but the Chiefs have had a tendency to play with their food lately. ... Love that Buck and Aikman get the undisputed best game of the week.

Don't count on Jerry to get the ball this week

Well, I guess we know one guy who isn't going to be on his current team next year:

This is a joke. It isn't like Stidham is the future for the Raiders. Carr threw three picks in the second half of a game that started in sub-zero temps - including one late after the defense coughed up another lead. It should also be noted the Steelers scored no points as a result of any of the picks.

If McDaniels has convinced Davis to let him "blow up the team" and rebuild, Davis is dumber than I thought, but then again - he thought THIS time would be the time the Patriot Way could be transplanted. I would have thought after the Gruden experience, Davis wouldn't be such a dope. They going to get White for Carr straight up? Brady on his last leg?

I haven't been watching the All-22 film but I watch the Raiders quite a bit given that's our local AFC team and IMHO Carr does some things well, better than Russ right now, but he's such a tease. Take the NE game, he threw the tying TD in the corner BUT he had several chances before then and couldn't even get a 1st down with simple checkdowns. I don't know why, but he's got Adams and he's doing everything BUT force the ball to him. [EDIT, I just saw that Adams has the 2nd most targets for the year; oh well I tried.]

And it makes sense, Carr is middle of the road but has shown no better, and he's set for a huge $$ which just doesn't equate.

Also don't think whatever team tries to buy some credibility with Sean Payton will do much. Yes, they'll buy credibility - but ask Jimmy Johnson, Hank Stram, George Seifert, Mike Ditka, Gruden, Shanahan, Vermeil, and Holmgren how easy it is to win another ring with another franchise with more control. Parcells came closest - but they can't replicate the same dynamic that got them the first one. Not a fan of the coach/toady GM model.

Derek Carr has the same upside that Stafford did. Surround him with the right pieces, he could win a Super Bowl. So could Dak Prescott. So can Jalen Hurts.

Herbert could do the same with a little less help. Allen and Mahomes can get a lot of it done on their own.

This was always the likeliest scenario for Carr. They structured the deal so they could cut him after this season. He has no guaranteed money and the cap hit is only $5 million.

Prescott is going to be the liability for the Cowboys. Even the Buccs at going to eat anyone alive if they can pull down the 1.2 INTs per game Dak has been throwing.

He's led the Raiders to a playoff berth twice - Davis seemed eager to get rid of both coaches and instead had no problem doubling down with their replacements when they struggled.

I could see Carr pulling a Tannehill rebirth with a flaming thumbtack on his helmet

Benching him for Stidham makes little sense, but Carr was really bad Saturday. He missed way too many throws. I'm not sure why it matters what happened after the interceptions in an evaluation of Carr. It's not like he lined up at safety and helped the Raiders' defense get stops or blocked the field goal attempt that the Steelers missed after his first interception. Carr's first interception was on the first play after Kenny Pickett threw one of his own to set the Raiders up in Pittsburgh territory. The second one ended a Las Vegas drive that had reached the Steelers' 43. The third one all but sealed the win for the Steelers, and it was a terrible throw. Renfroe was wide open for a huge gain, likely enough to set up at least a tying field goal, but Carr threw it back toward the defender to give Cam Sutton the chance to intercept it. Pickett actually handled the poor conditions better than Carr did.
