There's no such thing as a rising MAC team. Name me a team that has stayed on top for more than 3-4 years lately. There are teams that rarely have terrible seasons, but look at Miami, Toledo and BG lately.

Central Michigan.
Central just finished their third good year in a row. They were 6-5 in '05, but that's not at the top of the conference. Before that they were a **** team. And now Lefevour is leaving.

Did he announce he was leaving? I must have missed it. Link?

Thought he was a senior, now I realize that he was a frosh in 06. Well maybe they will kill my theory next year.

It won't matter for them offensively anyway Brunner lit it up when LeFevour was out. It's an offense built to put up a lot of points. Antonio Brown returns and he may be the best athlete in the conference so does a solid backfield. They'll be back in '09. And they actually play a beatable BCS team - ex: not Clemson 07 or Georgia 08. They get MSU. Should be interesting.

He's a junior. His first game was the BC game in '06. Unless I am terribly mistaken. But I'm pretty sure he is one-year after Ontario Sneed who graduates this year.

Let me see if I get this straight --

5-19 and loser of ten in a row Gene Chizik gets a bigger job

Brady Hoke, who lost to Buffalo in the Mac championship game, gets a bigger job

Something named Doug Marrone with no head coaching experience and no real extensive college experience gets a job.

Yet Turner Gill is still at Buffalo.

Yep that seems right to me.......

Brady Hoke is a better coach than Turner Gill. Who still lost a bunch of games at Buffalo this year. Ball State only lost one. Anyway, Hoke's move was a lateral one, at best.

I'm sorry for not thinking Gill is going to be the next big mid-major to jump to a big conference and succeed. I'd like to see a 12-1 season or two before I believe that. Otherwise he's going to be another Gerry Dinardo.

Brady Hoke didn't play Mizzou and Pitt, either. How many BCS-conference bowl teams were there on BSU's schedule? UB's other losses were by 2 (with a missed FG at the gun), 3, and 6 (in OT).

And don't undersell the scale of the wreckage Gill inherited on Maple Rd. in Amherst. Jim Hofher is a nice guy, but he's no Division 1 head coach. Lot of prayers were answered in Buffalo when they announced Gill's contract extension, although he's still probably gone after next season.

They miss Newton right now, though ...

Yes?

Thanks for the monkey shot glass. Just checked. He is a junior this year. I'd say he comes back.

Well another year will only strengthen his case.

You're right. I saw him play in 06. He got sacked three times, and the CMU SID kept saying, "oh, that was a run," and didn't count it. Nonetheless, he was a stud.

They woulda won that game too if it wasn't for that damn swinging gate play.

Is ESPN trying to make the Guinness book for longest graphic quote today? I've never seen so many long quotes.

Buffalo's uniforms are literally the exact same as Kentucky's last year, other than saying "Buffalo" instead of "Kentucky," of course. And the helmet logo (interlocking UB vs UK) is almost the exact same as well.

I noticed that too. Their team name is also one letter of from a certain pro team. They need their own identity.

This game is a Lorenzen pass from a Buffalo pick 6. If only they'd throw the damn ball.

EDIT: Why do I speak sometimes?
