We've got it on in the office, and it's just awful.
Pregame concerts and pop-stars singing theme songs, I just can't stand it.
It really bugs me.
Once upon a time, football experienced huge growth without all of the bloated marketing hype that has choked it over the past several years.

I guess we need an "I hate the NFL" thread every week.

I turned on the game at 8:30. Try that next time.

I had it on and tried to ignore the pregame concert.
Then I turned it off.
Then I tuned back for the game, but got the opening theme.
So I turned that off and tuned back later.

Personally, I love the NFL, but I do hate all the pregame bull****.

On second thought, maybe it's football that I love.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
There are always numerous weekly NFL threads. A weekly 'hate the NFL' thread would keep me off those other threads.

I just find it annoying. I don't know how to explain it.
It used to be just the hype around the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl hafltime show. I enjoyed the game, and I found the other stuff easy to ignore.
Then it was the race among the networks to have the most clownish, overdone pregame show. OK, I stopped watching pregame shows.
But now it seems to have infiltrated every aspect of the NFL.
I just can't stand it.
I'm only 36 and I've become some pathetic old curmudgeon cursing the changing world and pining for the good old days.

I couldn't agree more about hating the bands, overdone pregames, etc...but it just really doesn't seem that hard to avoid those. Once the game gets started there's no b.s. A lot of commercials, yes, but it's not like they bring out another crappy band between the first and second quarter.

You hate the NFL for that stuff? Watch the NBA sometime. The Finals, and especially the All-Star Game ... It's ridiculous. Even at run-of-the-mill regular season games, the buffoonery between quarters and during timeouts is off the charts.

I hate the NBA, too. I don't hate the NFL, but whatever you do, don't call it the national pastime. (America's Game is an acceptable answer... lol)

Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself For Loving You" is pretty much **** in the first place. Adding those goawful lyrics took it to a new level.

And Pink....you've got a decent body. Show it off.

To quote everyone else in SportsJournalists.comville, this thread is worthless without pictures of Pink.

Please don't.
That's one unattractive female (I think that's the gender).

Always works for me. If you watch the pregame stuff, then you're simply asking for a reason to complain. You knew the kickoff was set for 8:30 p.m., so why not turn the game on then?
