I will strongly second Highland Tap, along with Manuel's (especially if you are a democrat). Also, Moe's and Joe's is PBR heaven across from the Tap.

Time to put this thread to rest:

Does Manny's urn still sit behind the bar?

Great place. One night a bunch of us were running late after a game and we called over there - they asked what we wanted and had it ready when we showed up.
Let me repeat: Great place.

you're welcome.

Thanks for the suggestions. How about by the airport, anything good out there?

Unless you're going to the Dwarf House for lunch, Hapeville is not where you want to take the wife for a nice meal.... ;D

dwarf house -- 24 hour chick-fil-a

and the chicken minis there are better than they are anywhere else

also... another place i really like is agnus and muriel's in midtown -- http://www.mominthekitchen.com/

Sunday is the 10th anniversary party at my bar of choice, the Brewhouse Cafe.

http://www.brewhousecafe.com

It's your typical soccer bar, located in Little 5 Points.

There's going to be live music, and VRB bar, and probably plenty of free Jager shots tonight.

One place that's better than you'd think is Ted's Montana Grill (about a half-dozen locations around Atlanta). It's Ted Turner's place, probably should be more trendy and touristy than it is. But good food.

And any Atlanta food thread would be remiss without an obligatory mention of the Varsity. God damn, I miss those chili dogs. :)

I'll second Ted's Montana Grill.

I'm a big fan of the Bison meatloaf. It should be noted that the prices here are very very reasonable.

I can't claim to know what the best restaurants in Atlanta are, but a few years ago, after a long night of drinking, we wound up at Buckhead Diner and if you like diner food, it was great... We went back there the next day for lunch and it held up...

Never underestimate the value of a truly good diner...

Which is it, "amazing" or just "great"? :-)

I'll meet you halfway and up my "good" to "very good" -- how's that?

Buckhead Diner is totally overrated. It's yuppie diner food, not real diner food.

I will second Hoops' recommendation of Agnes & Muriel's. Great comfort food and kitschy as all get-out, in a good way.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, it's a no-brainer in midtown Lanta.

Brazilian steakhouse. Place was ****packed the last time I was there. Within (drunken) walking distance of the Doubletree.

Chick-Fil-A. Little different version from their standard fast food establishment set up.

For Italian, I recommend Pricci's. Just down the street from Atlanta Fish Market on Pharr Road. A nice mix of standard italian dishes with some more unusual options.

And if you're in College Park near the airport, Ron Mexico just opened a restaurant (Ducking for cover)

I was in town for the first weekend of the knockout round. I saw Germany-Sweden there. Just a great place. I have a friend who lives just down the street on McLendon.

Without reading the rest of the thread; last time I was in Atlanta -- the day UCLA beat the **** out of No. 3 Alabama -- Mrs. TBF and I had a few beers at a micro brew across from the ESPN Zone. We had a great time there.
