Had one today. Prep was the pain in the ass I expected it to be, particularly round two, where you’ve got past the fear factor of what it will feel/taste like vs. knowing you’re going to feel like that a lot more to get the desired result.
Of course, reading some bits here, and knowing of experiences of others, complaining about prep seems bad form when there are others who have legitimate fear of what the procedure will reveal. I did think about my Mom (who died of cancer when I was a kid) and what she went through and I had my, “man up and suck it up” moment of clarity.
Procedure itself, for me, went smooth. I don’t know if I got the 10-year pass yet, but I know no immediate complications were found. While I was in recovery, I apparently nicknamed the Coke I was drinking and did other hijinks that people do when they come out from anesthesia.
One thing I remember shortly before I went under, is that my doctor’s name was Lu. I was really hoping I’d bust into song during the procedure to the tune of Steely Dan’s “Doctor Wu”. I laughed out loud in my groggy state thinking about it. Nurse asked whether I was OK and I was like, “Oh, it’s nothing!”
Clearly, they can hear me, doctor.
