No use getting our stars hurt. Pinkel isn't that stupid, at least.
Don't expect him to be. Just wanted life to emulate a video game for a few fleeting moments.

Texas Tech will hang 70 on Nebraska ... again.

Yup. Mike Leach might really have some fun this week. And if some people thought Graham Harrell's stats against K-State looked like something from a video game ...

'Fun' is the key word, I think. I don't think Leach is malicious or has anything particular against Nebraska. Putting up huge numbers is just fun.

Especially when you're putting up huge numbers against Nebraska. I went to a Tech/Nebraska game in Lubbock in the mid-90s and Osborne never had ANY reservations about hanging 75 on another team. It was a slaughter. These past years, when they've been losing by big margins...it's been a long time coming.

They've had this coming ever since they fired Solich for the crime of not being Tom Osborne, and only winning nine games a year.

If Solich never leaves, I can't see any way how Nebraska has fallen off as far as it has. But now that it has, it's time to collect comeuppances galore.

The sadistic side of me wanted Daniel and Co. to hang 70 on them, if for no other reason than they could. But 52-17 ain't so bad, either.

Speaking of Frank Solich, where is Trev Alberts defending the idiotic move to run the former out of Lincoln?

Good grief, that was stupid. And I can completely understand why Wenders and the other Big 8/12 fans can't wait to demolish the Huskers while the gettin' is good. What goes around ...

With any luck, Kansas can hang another 76 on the Huskers on Nov. 8 in Lincoln.

Everyone should hang 76 on Nebraska. Years of payback for Tom "I suspended Lawrence Phillips for a half for dragging his girlfriend down a flight of stairs" Osborn doing it to everyone else.

And acting as if it's Big Red's just due.

Franklin fired as Auburn's offensive coordinator
by Charles Goldberg, Birmingham News
Wednesday October 08, 2008, 3:04 PM

Auburn offensive coordinator Tony Franklin was relieved of his duties Wednesday halfway through his first season of directing a spread offense that never caught fire.
Six games into the 2008 season, Auburn offensive coordinator Tony Franklin has been fired, effective immediately according to a school official.

Head coach Tommy Tuberville will meet with his team at 3:30 to tell them of the dismissal.

Tuberville said he will take a bigger role in plotting the course of the offense. Tuberville said he'll decide in the next day or so who will call the plays in Saturday's game against Arkansas.

Stevie Wonder could call the plays for Auburn and they'd still be Arkansas by three touchdowns.

"Auburn's offense is worse than the economy." — Vandy student sign from last Saturday.

Funny and accurate.

One of the sports talk shows yesterday did a great mashup of the radio calls from the AU-Vandy game, spliced in with John Goodman berating his team in "Revenge of the Nerds."

No, the midday bunch, taking a brief detour from being Maxim Radio.
