I'm starting a new job in two weeks, and the commute from my home is about 50 miles -- approximately 65 minutes one way in actual driving time.

Just wanted to see what types of commutes people have.

25 miles, about 45 minutes in traffic.

Took me an hour and a half in the rain last week. Didn't enjoy that.

A folo:

Do you guys/girls like a little bit of a longer commute to calm down a little bit before you get home from the stress of the daily deadline?

About 20-25 minutes to go about 15 miles.

And driving in Texas doesn't cure stress. It causes it.

I'd say 5 minutes on a bad day. In terms of distance, I live about 1.5 miles from the office.

Then again, I'm only in the office about once a week.

I did when I lived 30 minutes away from work. And even then it'd be an hour or two before I was in bed and asleep.

I have got the worst road rage in history. Someone in front of me could be doing 18 over the speed limit and I'll be bitching it's not 20.

Driving does not, in any way, relax me.

That is just SO hard to believe.

My commute is 20 minutes in good traffic, BTW. Nearly all freeway.

An 8 minute drive & a 10 minute process of parking in the employee garage, riding the shuttle & walking to the office.

Two months ago, I had a 45 minute drive. This is much better.

Doc and I both used to have 30 minute commutes. We hated it. Now his is about five minutes and mine is about 10, except they shut down one of the main roadways into downtown and detoured them onto our route, so if I go in right at 8, it takes about 30 minutes. ****ing road shut down for a year.

My commute used to be 4 miles. They transferred us 48 miles away. So I moved.

Now I'm 29.4 miles away. All freeways (albeit five different ones), so it usually takes about 45 minutes. I hate it.

SoCal at its finest, eh Buck?

Mine's about 25-30 depending on the traffic. I miss the six-minute drive to my old job.

10 minutes.

First job I had was a 30-minute commute. Made it one day in 20. Tried to do it the same way the next day, got nabbed for going 20 MPH over the speed limit. Cop let me go with a warning (his shift was 10 minutes from ending).

15-30 minutes, depending on traffic.
I remember a study from a while back that said any commute of less than 10 minutes wasn't advisable, either, because that's a good buffer separating work from home. Rode my back to work at a previous stop, which was nice.

18 minutes each way.

And I sometimes miss the days when I interned and commuted 45 miles each way. Gave me time to turn up the tunes and unwind.

Used to be 45 minutes each way to PNC Park, now it's 20, but lots of hills and stop lights.
