Any Standup Comedy fans?

I used to enjoy going to live shows then kids got in the way. But have started seeing a few recently and very much enjoyed the Funny AF series on Netflix. Got tickets to see one of them when she comes to SF in November.

You seen any good comedians lately?

Saw Gary Gulman earlier this year, whom I love. He's just a brilliant writer and performer.

Also adore Patton Oswalt, Taylor Tomlinson ****ing kills me, Maron still makes me laugh, and Mulaney's special about rehab is top notch.

I guess I go for comedians who work anxiety angles well. That and Jeselnik and Jim Jeffries.

Only name comedian I've seen live was Lewis Black in 2007. He was amazing.

I love Burr, CK, and Mulaney. Gaffigan has his moments.

Kumail Nanjiani is surprisingly hilarious. So is Francisco Ramos.

I’ve seen a bunch of them live, including Carlin, but the best live act I’ve ever seen was Patrice O’Neal (RIP). And it’s not particularly close.

My favorite right now is Brad Williams (the midget comedian), his bit on meeting John Stamos is still funny every time I see it. Got to see him live exactly a year ago and really enjoyed. The guy he now does his podcast with, JB Ball, was one of his opener and he was good also.
Still like Gabriel Iglesias, saw him live with my dad a couple years ago (If you've seen "Legend of Fluffy" on Netflix, that's pretty much the show we got).
It hit me that it's been nearly 20 years ago that I saw Kathleen Madigan at our nearby casino. I think she's still one of the funniest women on the planet.
Comedians I really miss: John Pinette (who performed on the same night I saw Madigan), Richard Jeni, Mitch Hedberg.
After seeing Songbird's clip, I need to find more footage of Erica Rhodes.

Pretty avid fan. Any special with Tomlinson, Mulaney, Bargatze, Oswalt, Burr, etc., is appointment viewing.

Big fan of Ricky Gervais. I’ve seen him live on his last couple of tours.

Saw Dennis Miller in college, not long after he left SNL.

And I was fortunate to see Carlin late in his career. Probably my favorite of all time.

Speaking of Funny AF, I was an opener at a comedy club in Northeast Philadelphia for a show that Caitlin Peluffo was on so it's been great to see her get some attention.

The best show I saw in person was Eddie Murphy's Delirious at the Universal Amphitheater in 1983.
I also got to see Redd Foxx in Las Vegas and Rodney Dangerfield in LA in the early 80s.
Much more recently, I've seen Nikki Glaser twice. Love her but don't feel the need to see her again.

George Carlin did a one-hour noon concert at my junior college in 1971. Others over the school year were Jack Parr and Freddie Hubbard. Spirit was a local band and showed up whenever there was an opening. One concert got delayed because Randy California was walking around campus and found a softball game to join. Had several rock bands. The student body Commissioner of Entertainment had a $60,000 expense account to book acts. For the performers, it was like a paid practice session. Show up, play for a hour, take off, get a couple thousand bucks.
I also saw Sam Kinison at the Comedy Store in Hollywood. I'm still laughing from that one.

Over the past couple of years we’ve seen Greg Warren, Henry Cho, Kathleen Madigan, Lace Larrabee, Karen Morgan, Andrew Stanley, Paul Snider, Karen Mills and Jerry Seinfeld live here in our little corner of the South, and all were great. We also loved the Whose Live Anyway touring company and the Improvised Shakespeare Company, which was an absolute scream.

What Eddie Murphy did, breaking in so young, is still astounding. Anyone making it to SNL before turning 20 is a GOAT.

Huge Taylor Tomlinson fan. I binged her Netflix stuff earlier this year. Agreed that the last one didn’t hit quite like the others — she had more serious stuff she wanted to work through in that one, so it wasn’t quite as funny as the others.

Was that the one she did in a church? I saw that one and, yes, it did seem like she was getting a lot of stuff off her chest. Still dig her stuff though.

Brad Williams’ comedy isn’t really my thing (“Look, I’m short and that’s funny!”), but I really like that he does a meet-and-greet after every show and will stay until he’s personally met every fan.

My mom is a huge fan, so I took her to see him when he came to DC. She also claimed to have been in extensive contact with him on Facebook. We all told her she was being catfished, but she wouldn’t listen. She went up to talk to him during the meet-and-greet and he told her, “**** no, that’s not me. It’s probably come whacko — hope you didn’t give him your account numbers.”

I thanked him for that.

Is Seinfeld funny again? I remember seeing him before the TV show and he was nails EVERY time. Really put together a tight set. Then he had the tv show, got married and when he toured again he was doing dad jokes about changing diapers? WTF! And lately he seems to be trying to claim the high priest of comedy role abdicated by Cosby.
