Banner goes up in the Garden tonight.
I've probably told this story before, but now it has a hook, thanks, Han. When the Celtics moved to the new Garden, new banners were installed in the rafters and the old ones were put in an enormous and elaborate under-glass wall hanging in the practice facility. The ones from the Bill Russell era were all green and dark yellow from the stains of decades of thousands and thousands of smoked cigarettes. I'd look at it think, "my God I used to work in that air!"

I watched about 2 possessions of the NYK-BOS game.
Can we get the coaches back to dressing like grownups and out of the warmup pants and pullovers?

Celtics picking up right where they left off. When the threes are falling, they're a juggernaut.

The ghost of Dr. Jack agrees.

JJ > Ham; Lakers have already shown more offensive set plays in 8 minutes than last year’s team would show in 8 quarters.

There is no way the Griffeys did not spend much of last night thinking "this is not anything like what we did."

I fully expect Bronny in the lineup when the South Bay Lakers play the Santa Cruz Warriors next month.

And I'm somewhat pleasantly surprised by the degree to which it's being treated as such. Mostly it seems people are ignoring it.

Very weird last night at the Ducks game. I don't know if this was in response to the Griffeys at the Lakers game.
They do a pregame stunt just before faceoff where the arena DJ has somebody with him to push a large button that (supposedly) triggers the goal horn and theatrical smoke comes out. Last night, the guests were Bob Boone and one of his sons (not Aaron). Bob played for and managed the Angels. Kids were all born in Orange County. Bob looked ancient and his son had to grab his hands to help him push the button. It all seems pretty silly. Why do you bring the Boones to a meaningless hockey game when their whole family focus is on the World Series.

Opening night for the Pistons tonight at Little Caesars Arena, capacity 20,300. Maybe 12,000 butts in the seats -- a little more than half full.

Game being carried on the FanDuel Network, the successor to Bally Sports.
