If I’m Lynx management I am seriously angry. The team is facing an elimination game and the coach does everything she can to get suspended from it. She’s very successful, but I want an adult coaching my team.
Then be the adult in the moment and don't charge the refs. And be the adult in the postgame presser and don't drop the bomb from the Enola Gay like she did. She should be fortunate she's not gone the rest of the playoffs.

Yeah, dissing the officials is a line you don't cross in any sport without repercussions, male or female, big money or little money.

Sure looks to me like the W is letting its grassfire of poor officiating turn into a full fledged wildfire. From a far outside perspective, it sure seems like the league has a real leadership problem given the lack of action to improve officiating and the apparent lack of progress on the CBA.

Couple things...
1. The league has been too physical and poorly officiated for years. The leadership and ownership has been obtuse for years. That's been known. That's what happens when the NBA bankrolls the league on the cheap for the purposes of fan outreach and virtue signaling.
2. Caitlin Clark's arrival changed things, even if some morons propped up the targeted physicality brought her way as a kind of initiation. Clark generated such jealousy - and also inspiration - because her brand was the first to transcend the league and drive ratings. It woke some of these stars up to what's actually possible for all of them if the product improves. The product first improves by eliminating the physicality. That won't please the S. Carolina/UConn wing of the sport -
3. Collier cited Clark in her speech strategically, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Clark knew she would. Is it a cheap shot to relay a private conversations month later? Of course. But our culture cheerfully embraces tattle culture, and apparently the WNBA commish has imagined herself above being held accountable for dumb statements.
4. The NBA can fire the WNBA commish, or she can leave, and the players can win in their labor battle by leveraging universally positive coverage from the media, which hasn't met an institution or commissioner it doesn't like to trash. But more money and labor wins come with less freedom - especially as it relates to on-court physicality, and also bailing on being a professional whenever that's convenient. You can't rip the league for its physicality then not expect the league to ring up your buddy on some other team for untold technicals.
5. That the blow was delivered by the co-founder of a rival league - whose husband runs that league - in palace coup fashion by cynically leveraging Caitlin Clark's success is the price of doing business. I do find it ironic that Clark was used the way she was here.

My uncle started coaching women's JUCO basketball in 1981 and received about 150 Ts over the next 35 years. I texted him yesterday that he was way ahead of the curve in saying the reffing sucked in women's hoops.
That's part of the value of the league to the NBA before Clark joined it.
You don't like me or my worldview and that's fine. But how many calls from Adam Silver do you think it would have taken for the WNBA to enforce overly physical play?
One.
The players, initially jealous of Clark - probably still - now understand she can help them make a lot of money.
What I'm interested in knowing, if the WNBA commish is down for answering it, is how Clark as a topic came up between she and Collier - and what Collier had to say about Clark.

The Dallas Wings have the same vibe that the Spurs had between the drafting of Robinson and Duncan. They're much more likely now to win the lottery and let's see what happens. Let's see if Bueckers gets her Pippen.
