What says everyone?

A few close races still, particularly both major A.L awards.

AL MVP - Donaldson (over Trout)
NL MVP -Harper
AL Cy - Price (over Keuchel)
NL Cy - Greinke
AL rookie - Correa
NL rookie - Bryant
AL manager - Hinch
NL manager - Maddon (over Collins)

Agree on Donaldson and Harper for MVP. They are probably going to win.

You can argue either way between Price and Keuchel for AL Cy Young. I don't have a strong opinion. Greinke for sure for NL Cy Young.

AL ROY may be a bit of a question. Francisco Lindor has been hot recently. Kris Bryant is a lock in the NL.

Managers, I think Joe Maddon will get it over Collins. But Collins has done a very good job this year. Clint Hurdle, too. Can't argue with A.J. Hinch in the AL, but you can also make a strong case for John Gibbons.

Collins has done a decent job, but the Mets success seems to be more attributable to the GM than the manager. One could argue that Collins did a nice job keeping his pitchers from murdering the entire starting lineup while they were losing every game 1-0 and 2-1 before acquiring Cespedes, Uribe and Kelly Johnson, but I don't think Collins really been the difference for this team.

I would say the same thing about John Gibbons.

Are people saying Harper just for the stats?

That's a loaded way of putting it.

His "stats" indicate, accurately, that he's been the best player in the National League this season.

It's not his fault that everyone on his team got bad at once.

Jeff Banister has a better argument for AL MOY than Hinch if his team closes the deal. Banister's team finished behind Houston last year and is finishing strong in September while Hinch's team is in meltdown. And he's doing it without his ace Yu Darvish for the whole year and without his No. 2, Derek Holland, for half of it.

MOYs don't **** away an 8-game lead in August, either.

Harper will win the Bill James Grand Slam: AVG OBP SLG WAR

Stats say Harper is the MVP.

As Boswell said, he's having the best season by an honest player since Ted Williams

ARod, Comeback Player of the Year

How do you know he's honest?

I'm paraphrasing Tom Boswell, I'm not making the assertion. Ask Boswell.

But, Harper is a Mormon. He doesn't drink, smoke or use caffeine. So my guess, based on his age, religion and track record of success in the game since he was 15 is that he doesn't use PEDs

Laughable that anybody still makes these proclamations.

What other reason is there?

Just wonderin' if there's a Gibson-like player this year.

If it was *just* about numbers, Strawberry would've won it in '88, not Gibson. Mets won 100 that year, Dodgers 94.

Cutch had just 21 homers and 84 RBIs in '13. Strong average (.317) and of course that defense in center. Goldschmidt's HR's and RBIs left Cutch in the dust. Lesser average (.302) but better OPS.

That said, I'm not against Harper winning it.

Proclamations that a player is definitely clean? I agree. People make too many assumptions both ways.

Regarding Harper, his faith is irrelevant. We only have his word regarding drinking, smoking and caffeine. Alex Rodriguez was also dominant as a teenager. Not that I think Harper has cheated. I don't. But we don't know.

It is just about numbers when the numbers are as good as Harper's. He's having a historic season. There's no argument for anyone else to beat him out.
