Not necessarily defending the move, but the 49ers' interest is less relevant than if another team was going to move into the spot to take the player the Bears wanted.

Pat Mahomes is the first quarterback the Chiefs have drafted in the first round since Todd Blackledge in 1983, and only the fourth ever.
The last time the Chiefs had a QB they drafted lead the team in passing was Steve Fuller (one of the other three first-rounders) in 1980.
