I haven't seen the movie but I think he and Neely were briefly in Casualties of War, with Michael J. Fox (a good friend of Neely's).

He was also in Monument Ave, which starred Denis Leary, who is also a friend of Neely.

That simulcast brings back memories of the Blackhawks and their SportsChannel/radio simulcasts of the mid-1980s (and I'm sure beyond).

Feels like a ****ty way to save money by having them do both. A very different sound, feel and skillset for radio and TV for hockey.

As a Blues fan, I'm crushed for John Kelly. Loyal guy, cast aside for no good reason. Should be Blues royalty, given his father's iconic status (still has a banner hanging, I believe).

Alexa Datt also axed as a pre- and post-game host. She knows her stuff, and is nice to look at.
On a personal level, John is just a terrific, down-to-earth guy so, yes, it sucks.
Factoid: first full-time job out of SIU-Edwardsville was "doing it all" at a radio station in Pratt, Kan. That included the livestock markets.

+1 those Hawks simulcasts.
The best ones were, IMHO, in Pittsburgh ... at least early on. The late Mike Lange seemed to not give a shirt. He did a radio call for radio and television.
It was awesome.

Hmm ... did Tom Dundon take over this operation, too?

Two of Dundon's dumbest moves in Raleigh were altering the deals of the TV sorts to basically force John Forslund out, then Chuck Kaiton - only one of the best play-by-play radio guys in the industry.

Just stupid. So, suddenly, other markets think this is clever. Nope ... just cheap and stupid.

The Kings did simulcasts for about a season and a half but brought back separate radio broadcasts during the past season.
I don’t know if it was to audition the replacement for the retiring Nick Nickson.

Sad but predictable. That would have been a hard case to prosecute effectively if it weren't named Canadian hockey players, and probably became borderline impossible given the various things named in this Athletic story.
