I'm busting in there to set these poor animals free.

Who's with me??

AP ran this story tonight — showing her English bulldog at Westminster ... Patty Hearst.

My company premiered its commercial for the new flea and tick control product during the dog show. There was an e-mail and a voicemail and everything, so I guess it's a big deal.

I'm watching college basketball instead.

Pitiful.

We now have IJAG and a new Mizzougrad on the board.

I'm so confused.

Beagles rule.

And, yes, somebody has to say it.

I'm partial to the beagle since I have one.

The beagle has been dissed WAYYYY too long in this event. It's time to end the bias.

I like that this thread has not turned into a debate about whether it's a sports story.

(I don't know if it is, really, but I claimed it for us because our desk is the only one here that could update a national story at 10 p.m. without making a mess of it.)

We ran it in our section at my first paper, but we needed a story to fill space.

At my current paper? Our ex-columnist used to cover the damn thing and it was our centerpiece for all days.

Argh.

My cousin breeds these guys (for those of you who like the big massive dogs)

Beat this:

Our editor was pissed because the AP didn't run agate on it.
I was asked to call the AP about it and run it if they sent it.
I refused to call the AP and ask them for "dog agate" so I got one of the designers to do it for me.
I still give him **** about it, and I'm sure the staffers in the office of the AP agate wire still joke about that call to this day.

It's not much different from dog racing in level of ridiculousness.
