John Boy & Billy Big Show Signing Off

John Boy & Billy will sign off for good at the end of the year. Most us in the Southeast have heard the show even if you weren't a regular lister. They were on for more than 40 years and syndicated on more than 100 stations at their peak.
The show was live from 6-10 a.m. every morning but was pulled from its home station a year ago and has been pre-recorded ever since. It's down to just 37 stations.
I listened religiously for 20 years but haven't in more than a year.
Billy unexpectedly vanished with no explanation nearly two years ago along with Jeff Pillars. The show hasn't been the same.
It used to be southern satire but has gotten way too into the right wing weeds over the last few years.

Dug John Boy and Billy, seemingly a lifetime ago. That was back during the late Robert Raiford days. I found Raiford both annoying and amusing, at times, but what pipes! John Boy too.
They had a lot of NASCAR drivers on, whom often time would play along with some gag.
Well, guess it's time finally to pick up some John Boy and Billy "Grillin'" sauce!

They always leaned into the redneck-y schtick, but it was the 90s style of fun redneck that wasn’t centered on grievance porn and just celebrated who it was and the fact it was a little bit cheesy and behind the curve. Sounds like they sunk into what the Rick & Bubba Show speed ran, which is to say politics uber alles. Thats a shame.

I've lived in the Southeast my entire life and never heard of these people. Sounds like a show I would have been into at certain points in my life, especially on long drives for work.
