1. Excluding Ed Kranpool, who was the last active player from the original 1962 New York Mets?
ANSWER: Catcher Chris Cannizzaro, who made it until the end of the 1974 season. Hickman played his last game in July, 1974. Kranepool made it far longer than that, as he debuted as a 17-year old in 1962.

ANSWER: Mike Caldwell it is, Game 5 of the 1982 World Series.

3. Who are the only two switch-hitters in major-league history to hit 40 or more home runs twice in a single season?
ANSWER: Michey Mantle (four times) and Lance Berkman (twice).

4. Who was the first Arkansas native to appear in an All-Star game as a position player?
ANSWER: Travis Jackson of the New York Giants, in 1934.

5. Who did Alabama defeat for its first-ever football victory over a four-year school?
ANSWER: Tulane, 18-6 on Nov. 3, 1894, in New Orleans.

BONUS QUESTION: A two-parter, one easy, one maybe not. 1, Who are Cecil Ingram Connor III, and 2, who are John 'Speedy' Keene, Jimmy McCulloch, Jim Avery and Jack McCulloch?

ANSWER: Cecil Ingram Connor III was none other than Gram Parsons. His father died early, his mom remarried and his stepfather adopted lil' Ingram and changed his last name.

Damn, Captain, you pulled Thunderclap Newman out of your butt. They are indeed the other four members of the band fronted by Andy "Thunderclap" Newman.

Will be back at about 4:30 EDT to check back on the answers and update any correct ones. As always, thanks for participating in my little game.

An advantage of spending a lot of time in college with a good friend who was a fervent disciple of St. Pete. Townshend, that is. Some little oddities manage to stick in the recesses of my brain.
