Figured it was time to do away with the last one.

And a pretty sizeable number won't find a new team. Saw these stats from a Rothstein tweet:

Last year's transfers (2020) by the numbers:

High Major to High Major --- 24% increase in PPG.

Mid Major to High Major --- 54% decrease in PPG.

High Major to Mid Major --- 21% increase in PPG.

Going up, prepare to sit. Lateral or going down, prepare to play.

A team I follow just got a commit from a transfer. Guy is on his FOURTH D1 school, and he still has two years of eligibility.

Throw in the extra Covid season for seniors, who add to the numbers available to transfer.

High major to mid major is certainly the route that Andy Kennedy is going. He just picked up his fifth transfer, four from high majors.

"Tulane transfer Jordan Walker has committed to UAB, he told College Hoops Today on Friday. The 5-11 point guard averaged 13 points and 4.3 assists last season. Since he is a two-time transfer, Walker — who recently graduated from Tulane — will need an NCAA waiver to play immediately next season. (He has since been cleared to play immediately)

“I loved the campus and the players that I met with,” Walker said on Friday. “It felt like a family there.”

Walker is one of four impact transfers that UAB has added this offseason under Andy Kennedy. The Blazers have also secured commitments from Jamal Johnson (Auburn), Justin Brown (South Florida), K.J. Buffen (Ole Miss), and Tyreke Locure (South Alabama). All four players averaged 8.1 points or more last season.

“I love the way that Coach Kennedy allows his guards to play,” Walker added. “We’ve added other high-major transfers. That can help you win Conference-USA. Winning is extremely important to me. I want to win.”

UAB finished 22-7 last season in its first year under Andy Kennedy.

What are we calling the fifth-year players, “super seniors”?

And what about sixth- and seventh-year players?
We had a local guy playing his seventh season of college baseball this year. He redshirted one year, got a medical redshirt another, and then got a seventh year of eligibility because of COVID. He's going to have a Ph.D by the time he finishes playing.

Should have a Masters at least. Pretty insane.

There has been a *lot* of drama on the Memphis board. Penny Hardaway drew some interest from the Orlando Magic, and message board bonfires ensued. I don't *think* he actually got an offer, but he parlayed the interest into strong-arming the athletic department into hiring Larry Brown as an assistant. That hire had been rumored for a bit, best read seems to be that Penny/his agent used the Magic as leverage to get a few details ironed out and the deal done.

How much value an 80 year old Larry Brown brings is the question. I can't believe he's a big figure to recruits. Lord knows he has a lot of experience as a bench coach.

So, Creighton and TCU get caught by the NCAA, but no postseason ban in the proposed penalties. When is the NCAA gonna learn that fines are meaningless. Outside of stripping four or five scholarships, a postseason ban is the only penalty of any meaningful consequence.

Programs will continue to cheat as long as it doesn't really hurt them and they can still play in the tournament.

After a few moments thought, the halogens over my head broke through the dimness. The Wild West of paying players, on the honor code with virtually no enforcement... the mystery is more on the order of why haven't a dozen other programs already hired Brown?

Is Hinkle ever open for tours or just randoms walking around? Looking for potential stuff to do for a day in Indy at the end of summer.

I'm not sure if things are different during Covid, but historically Hinkle has been open to walk around during the day on weekdays and has had guided tours on Saturday mornings.

LOL - I had a business trip in Indianapolis in the summer of 1990, and I took a tour of Market Square Arena.

I’m coming through on a Sunday morning and doing the IMS tour. Trying to see if it is worth hanging out all day or pushing on to Louisville.

Found the guy:
