Want to try that last sentence in English? I have no idea what you're trying to say.

Cop killer. Should have treated him like Mussolini and hung him from a lamppost.

I don't get where this is all headed. Race war? War against cops; with cops, National Guard unleashed to respond?

It shows great journalism, looking for the real story under the headlines.
Next Sunday in The Times: Hitler's search for paternal love and the Fatherland

This is one of the great nonfiction books of the past 20 years so, yeah, that's a legitimate story.

And they were all minor.
Had 2 kids that he dotted on
Society failed him. The type of person that cuomo was talking about in '84

That first line is the bit that bothered me. I do think it was a legitimate story to write, but it sure seems like there was an attempt made to dismiss many of his criminal acts as trivial.

There were many profile stories written about Lee Harvey Oswald after he shot Kennedy. Hell, there are profiles like this written for almost every murder that gets national attention. The Times would have been remiss NOT to report about this guy's background in an attempt to understand what led to these murders, especially in a situation where the police union is irresponsibly blaming the mayor.

Are you worried about the future of the city you live in?

I would bet that if you added up all the arrests for everyone who posted on this site in the 72 hours, you would not get 20 arrests (not speeding tickets).

I must admit, I am surprised by the lack of sympathy for the shooter.Another example of someone who fell through society's safety net. He would have been born around the time that Bush SR signed the "end welfare as we know it "reforms.
.
At least in blaming the mayor there is more of a nexus than what 1600 had in blaming the filmmaker for Benghazi

Likely another young African American male that that was put over the edge by harassment from the police for
petty crimes. The type that NYPD is temporally not enforcing.

It's a fine line between becoming Jay Z or ending up like Ismaaiyl Brinsley.

That first line is the bit that bothered me.

They probably used it because "Ismaaiyl Brinsley was an irritating guy who most people would want to tie up and pistol whip after a while." would have been too on the nose.

Surprised that they used "devout muslim " in the lede. The NYT typically does not mention religion.

I've got two disorderly conduct arrests. . Do I get street cred for that?

Just one night in the Hartford lock-up. By the time I got my mug shot, printed and deloused, it was about 4 am. I told them I was hungry and they brought me coffee and doughnuts. I was bailed out a couple hours later.

Officer Liu's funeral is today. Commissioner Bratton has practically begged the cops to not turn their backs on De Blasio again.

CNN & MSNBC carrying the funeral live. Fox can't be bothered honoring a fallen hero

Guess the cops did not get Bratton's memo. I trust that "The Blas" has to respect the cops willingness to use their right to
peaceful protest.

They dishonor themselves by this constant grandstanding at colleagues' funerals. They bring shame upon the badge. Hope they get what they want out of this via collective bargaining, I guess.

DeBlasio can't have it both ways either. He can't run an election from the left and criticize police policy, he can't say he has to train his son to deal with cops and he can't put his antagonistic wife(no official mayoral position) in police staff meetings and then come out at funerals and expect to be treated like he had their backs.

And the police are really showing how thin skinned they are and how quickly and easily they are to provoke.

Agreed. Neither side is covering itself in glory here, but a funeral is not the place for this stuff.
