When they opened the first Krispy Kreme in Arlington, Texas, there was a line of cars wrapped around the store and spilling out into the street every day for weeks.

The line that formed when the first In-N-Out opened in Texas was even stupider. They would use the adjacent shopping center parking lot to stage all the cars and send them through like a Roman century. They seem to have experience with new stores.

I had to wait about a month for things to simmer down. The same thing happened when Krystal moved into the DFW area, but a few years later all of those stores were closed. Now I hear that White Castle is opening its first Texas store soon.

Then there's Hanford, Calif., where such a fuss was made over a petition drive to get an In-N-Out, when it finally opened, it made Good Morning America.
