NFL rules question

The Bills score first in OT yesterday, then had to kick off because Eagles get a possession since Buffalo scored a FG, not a TD.

So, Buffalo onsides kicks and recovers the ball. Is the game over? Did Philadelphia's possession start when the ball is kicked? Or do the Bills get another chance to score a TD and end the game?

If that's the rule, it needs to be changed. Eagles still should get a full possession if it's less than six. They can get that by stopping the Bills before they can kick another field goal.

In fact, I thought that was the rule. The first team to lead by six or more wins after the first possession or either wins after each has had one possession. I had scoped out the weird scenarios before and had assumed that was all settled.

You could in theory have one team kick a field goal as time expires and the other team never gets a possession.

Also you can win on a safety without ever possessing the ball, but the losing team does get a possession.

The NFL does a 10-minute overtime. I think they should do away with sudden death, just play the 10 minutes (it's commercial free) and let the chips fall.
