There was some talk that they might push the deal to later in the week so it looked a little more on the up and up. Apparently some folks on Park Ave weren't thrilled with the way the teams manipulated the rules for cap purposes (to which I say, don't have a cap).

I wish people would realize that an agreement in principle is not an enforceable agreement. Even if the Pats-Eagles had agreed to the trade in Jan/Feb/March, if (heaven forbid) AJ Brown had suffered a basketball blown knee injury or been arrested for shoplifting (:)), there was never an official trade and PHI still is on the hook for everything, not NE. Waiting until 6/1 is not manipulating the cap.

FTFY. A Cleveland NFL team has not had back-to-back winning seasons since 1988-89. The current expansion Browns have never had back-to-back winning seasons.

Garrett is 30, as an old dude I'd love players to keep their "peak" but history hasn't been kind to big names after 30.

Of course, maybe he's Bruce Smith (don't recall any serious injuries and missed time) or Neil Smith or LeRoy Selmon or Howie Long (sorry cannot recall someone more recent).

Garrett is a beast who has shown no sign of decline. Smaller edge guys like TJ Watt tend to decline more quickly, which is why the Steelers were foolish not to trade him rather than overpay him last year.

The Rams think they can win a Super Bowl now. After this trade, that's not a bad bet. Honestly, the cost wasn't all that bad for what Garrett is right now.

Steelers sign Nick Herbig to a four-year, $100 million extension, so now they have three outside linebackers with huge contracts. Herbig has never even been a full-time player. Maybe T.J. Watt gets traded, but who the hell wants to take on that contract?
