This trade works for both sides. Rams are always in "win now" mode. Browns get Verse, who's very good, also younger and cheaper than Garrett, plus another first rounder next year. Cleveland is, or should be, in "win in 2029" mode.

Yes. Just poking fun at the Rams' curious recent tradition of trading their first-round picks for years on end. Since Jared Goff in 2016, Verse and now Ty Simpson are the only first-round picks they've made. It's really amazing that they've built a consistent winner given that.

But it's obvious this is a "You're pranking me, right?" kind of trade for the Rams, in the best way, with no downside. They're trading an unused scratch-off lottery ticket for one that is already showing a jackpot.

Freak things happen, of course, but it doesn't seem unreasonable to assume two or three more years of high-end production. Even a slight dip (8-10 sacks instead of 12-15) is still better than you're going to get from 90 percent of the rest of the league.
