The nominations:

The 98th Academy Awards | 2026

Sinners had 16
One Battle After Another had 13
Sentimental Value had 9

It's going to be a long two months of bitter arguments about Sinners and OBAA, unfortunately waged through some weird lens of which movie is more authentic to the progressive spirit. It's already been contentious.

Benecio Del Toro could win. And he'd deserve it.

Sean Penn might, too, and maybe he does. It's a bizarre character. It's hard to say if it's a good performance.

I'm already tired about reading about "snubs." There are only so many spots and none of the nominees or those left out seems egregious.

They could and might, but they’re gonna cancel each other out and neither wins

OBAA was/is the most enjoyable. Best done? Sooo subjective.

Sinners was likewise very enjoyable and that historical music scene was probably the most striking I've maybe ever seen in a movie. Not sure I'd say Best Picture of the Year though.

Benicio is the best. His portrayal of the true revolutionary in every day contemporary times deserves an Oscar.

"F1" getting nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars is a very big win but the real loss that Sunday will be not seeing Sir Lewis Hamilton stunt on the red carpet because he'll be in China
